MAcy DEGREE PROGRAM

The Master of Accountancy (MAcy) program produces accounting graduates who are broadly educated in accounting concepts and practices. Students explore the social and environmental effects of accounting information on those who rely on it for decision making. A unique aspect of the program is its emphasis on the ethical implications of accounting, auditing, and financial reporting.  The MACY program is only offered on the San Marcos campus.

The MAcy program can be used to satisfy the 150-hour education requirement for the Texas CPA Exam. After passing the CPA exam, the candidate is also required to complete one year of professional accounting experience.

The Macy program prepares students for careers as auditors, tax professionals, business consultants, financial planners, internal auditors, controllers, and to work in public accounting, government, not-for-profit, and industry.

Requirements for the MAcy Degree. Students entering this program must satisfy 12 hours of accounting leveling coursework including Fundamental Accounting Concepts, Intermediate Accounting I, Intermediate Accounting II, and Individual Income Tax.
