Thank you for your interest in graduate programs in the McCoy College of Business Administration.  There are three graduate programs available through the College: the Master of Business Administration (MBA) with optional emphases in International Business, Latin American Business, Health Administration, or Engineering & Technology; the Master of Accountancy (MAcy); and the Master of Science in Accounting and Information Technology (MSAIT).  There is a two step process for applying for admission to any of our graduate programs. The first step is to complete the requirements of the Texas State University Graduate College as described on the Graduate College website. These requirements include a graduate application and associated fee, official transcripts, and an official report indicating your score on the Graduate Management Admissions Test.

The second step is to complete the additional admission application documents required by the McCoy College graduate program office.  The applicant is responsible for collecting all the McCoy College application material, including letters of recommendation, and submitting everything in one package to the address below. An applicant’s recommenders should be provided with a copy of the McCoy College recommendation form and a self-addressed and stamped envelope so the recommendations can be returned to the applicant to be included in the application package.  Send or deliver the completed application package to:

McCoy College Graduate Programs
601 University Drive
530 McCoy Hall
San Marcos, TX 78666

The application package should include:

  • two letters of recommendation from persons best able to assess your ability to succeed in graduate school using the standard McCoy College recommendation form; (Note: Persons applying for the special 5-year BBA/MAcy program are not required to submit letters of recommendation)
  • responses to two specific essay questions for the term for which you are applying -- Spring   Summer   Fall;
  • a detailed resume showing work experience, extracurricular and community activities, and honors and achievements; and
  • a letter providing additional information that was not required that you would like the admissions committee to consider in its deliberation. (optional)

A candidate’s application packet will be classified as incomplete until all required documents have been submitted to the University and the McCoy College.  The McCoy College Graduate Admissions Review Committee will review complete application packets and decide, based on qualifications, who will be admitted to the programs. Incomplete packets will not be reviewed by the committees.

As noted on the Texas State University Graduate College website, “all applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited university. Admission to all graduate business degree programs is competitive and designed to identify those applicants who have the ability, interest, and maturity to manage the rigors of the programs as well as potential for future professional growth. The admissions committee will carefully consider all aspects of an applicant’s professional and academic background.  Specific attention will be given to quantitative measures such as undergraduate GPA and scores on all components of the standardized Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT).

While there is no specific minimum GPA or GMAT score, both are very important and are indicators of an applicant’s potential success in graduate studies and business.  The admissions committee will be looking for applicants with strong academic performance throughout their undergraduate experience. Competitive scores on the GMAT will also be required.  Also very important to the admissions committee are qualitative elements such as letters of recommendation, quality of written essays, relevant work experience, source and major area of undergraduate degree, extracurricular and community activities, and honors and achievements.”

There are several financial aid opportunities available to qualified students.  Of significant importance are a limited number of competitive McCoy Fellowships that are awarded at $1500 or $2500 per semester depending upon the qualifications of the applicant.  To learn more about these fellowships and other scholarship opportunities please click here.

We welcome your graduate program application and thank you for your interest in Texas State's McCoy College of Business Administration.
