First official meeting: September 14th!
Time to kick things off! The first formal meeting is Wednesday, September 14th, 5:30 p.m. in McCoy room 127. Our guest speaker is Marty Jacobvitz, our very own Venture Capitalism professor from Texas State. Dress code is business-casual. Free food and drinks provided as always.
If you have a schedule conflict but still want to join...
No problem! Membership in our FMA chapter also includes membership to FMA International, based at the University of South Florida which has its own set of benefits! Being a member in any context gives you access to our events, networks, and opportunities to help us fund raise for credit to the spring Chicago FMA Leaders' Conference. Feel free to email any of the officers, or stop by during the President's office hours (Fridays, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., McCoy Room 110). We will be happy to give you the details!
Hello Everyone!
The Financial Management Association at Texas State University is very excited about the upcoming year. We look forward to the scheduled events ahead of us. Our FMA chapter is also searching for new members who are ready to dedicate their time, enthusiasm, and talents towards their future careers. As a highly respected professional society in academia, we are here to play a supportive role in preparing you to graduate and help you find that perfect first job. Whether you are majoring in finance or another field of business, we strive to provide supplemental resources to those who are interested.
Last Spring, we represented Texas State University at the Finance Leaders' Conference in New York, and had the largest number of members from a single chapter in attendance. We were also designated with the honor of Superior Chapter for the eighth consecutive year. Next year, we will be heading to Chicago for the 2012 FMA Finance Leaders' Conference. This trip will provide a great platform to network within the world of finance. There will be numerous financial professionals at the conference that will be speaking all about their careers, their companies, and the finance certifications suggested for their respective businesses.
Leading up to the conference, we will have several events throughout the year including bi-weekly guest speaker meetings, fundraising events, and numerous social gatherings.
I am very excited about the semester and year to come, and look forward to getting to know everyone. Meetings will be held every other Wednesday at 5:30 in McCoy Hall, Room 127, beginning August 31st. I hope everyone had a great summer, and we hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Kelly R. Swart
President, Financial Management Association
