Monday, February 14

John Oehlke

John Oehlke, Vice President of Business Transformation, Coca-Cola North America

John Oehlke is Vice-President, Business Transformation, Coca-Cola North America. 

John has been with The Coca-Cola system for 23 years.  He began his Coca-Cola career with Coca-Cola Enterprises in 1989 as Manager, Sales Analysis and Planning.  In 1991, he joined the Coca-Cola Company as Manager, Packaging and Pricing Strategy.  In this role, he served as a consultant to the International bottling community.  Since then, he has served in a variety of capacities in North America; such as Managing Director, Field Sales and Marketing Operations in Toronto.  In Canada, John was accountable for building and leading the Coca-Cola Ltd Field Sales and Marketing organization.  He served as Group Director, Region and Customer Marketing for the Southwest Region. Most recently, as South Region Vice President, John was responsible for the delivery of the Company’s business in an area covering 40 million consumers in the Southern United States.

John has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin at River Fall’s and MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington. John and his wife Aleida have a 19 year old daughter Krista.  John is a frequent traveler, avid reader and runner.

Clay DeStefano

Clay DeStefano, Administrative Director of PR and Marketing, Central Texas Medical Center

Clay DeStefano is an award-winning, 28-year veteran of the marketing, public relations and advertising profession who currently serves as a member of Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) Senior Administrative team. He joined the CTMC team in January of 2007 and currently serves as the Administrative Director of PR & Marketing as well as the Executive Director of the CTMC Foundation – CTMC’s fundraising organization.

Prior to serving at CTMC, Clay earned a national reputation in his field for innovative healthcare marketing and public relations programs and partnerships as well as his exceptional handling of media crises during a highly-sensationalized shark attack in the summer of 2001 and the devastating hurricanes that hit his community and hospital in 2004 and 2005. His work has been published in national journals and he has been a featured speaker at a number of national marketing and public relations conferences.

Since arriving in San Marcos, Clay has helped to reshape CTMC’s image, services and fundraising outcomes. He is active in the community in a number of ways, including serving as Vice-Chair of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, (since Oct. 2007), Chair of the Chamber’s Natural Resources Committee, and more recently, serving as a board member the Greater San Marcos Economic Development Corp.

Clay and his wife Anne have been married for 29 years, have three grown children and live in San Marcos with their two dogs.

Graciela Tiscareno-Sato by Rob Baker

Graciela Tiscareño-Sato, Author of Latinnovating: Green American Jobs and the Latinos Creating Them

Graciela Tiscareño-Sato is the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Gracefully Global Group, LLC consulting with businesses seeking marketing and communications excellence. Previously she led the global Green Enterprise Initiative at Munich, Germany-headquartered Siemens Enterprise Networks. There she helped enterprises understand the economic and environmental value of collaboration technologies. Once adopted, these solutions dramatically reduced corporations’ real estate needs, energy needs, employee commutes and their overall carbon footprints.

She's a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, a former military officer and aviator and a mentor to Latino youth. Her thought leadership pieces have published in the U.S. and Europe including Environmental Leader, the National Society of Hispanic MBA’s national magazine Hispanic MBA, UCStrategies.com, Communications News, Enterprise Technology Management, Internet Telephony Magazine and many others. She earned a Master degree in International Management from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington while on active duty with the U.S. Air Force.

Graciela was honored by LATINA Style Magazine as the San Francisco Bay Area “Entrepreneur of the Year” in May 2010. This award was for her unique professional mix of ventures serving both businesses and children with disabilities (as an educational advocate). In November 2010, she received national “Entrepreneur of the Year” honors at the Anna Maria Arias Memorial Business Fund Gala in Washington D.C. She is a key organizer of the Silicon Valley Latino Leadership Summit, the event at Stanford University where she will launch her upcoming book Latinnovating: Green American Jobs and the Latinos Creating Them. This is the first book about Latino-led innovation in the green economy. Her ground-breaking book represents the convergence of Ms. Tiscareño-Sato’s corporate sustainability experience, entrepreneurial drive and her desire to communicate compelling stories of innovation and leadership from the Latino community to benefit the planet.

Diane Gottsman, Founder and Director of The Protocol School fo Texas

Diane Gottsman has become a student favorite and a staple of Business Leadership Week. She is a nationally recognized etiquette expert, the founder and director of The Protocol School of Texas, a company specializing in etiquette training for corporations, etiquette presentations for universities and manners and etiquette training for individuals. She travels extensively to train corporations that have a desire to improve the image and protocol skills of their front line teams. Diane has been published and quoted locally, regionally and nationally, in addition to being featured on the BBC Radio. More recently, Diane has published a book titled Pearls of Polish, an etiquette guide for today’s busy woman. Pearls of Polish has become a favorite among corporations for use as incentives and etiquette and protocol training materials for their staff.

Suzanne Perkins, Owner and Chef of Cool Mint Café & Market

Ms. Suzanne Perkins, owner and chef of Cool Mint Café & Market, will share her entrepreneurial perspective on small business sustainability. After 18 years as a destination resort manager and niche marketing consultant on the Northern California and Pacific Northwest coastline, Suzanne Perkins focused her hospitality interests on “cooking” by attending Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon. She enrolled without a clue as to what she would do once she completed the course. Cool Mint was awarded Green Business of the Year in 2010 for its sustainable efforts. Ms. Perkins is dedicated to selecting the finest ingredients from local Texas producers who support sustainable farming and green products, and to utilizing energy efficient means of heating and cooling. Not only is Cool Mint’s business philosophy centered around sustainable practices, but employees are trained to inform guests of the benefits of purchasing locally and recycling.

Chef Perkins will describe the path that led her to opening the Cool Mint Café and how she compliments a healthy, sustainable lifestyle with a thriving business. She will discuss the challenges involved with refitting a historical structure, procuring wholesome ingredients, recycling and composting. In conclusion, she will summarize how these activities contribute to the company’s commitment to sustainability, emphasizing some of the benefits.

Russell Rhoads, Options Institute - Chicago Board Options Exchange

Russell Rhoads, CFA, is an instructor with the Options Institute at the Chicago Board Options Exchange. He joined the Institute in 2008 after a career as an investment analyst and trader with a variety of firms including Highland Capital Management in Memphis, TN, Caldwell & Orkin Investment Counsel in Atlanta, GA, and Balyasny Asset Management in Chicago, IL. He is a financial author and editor having contributed to Technical Analysis of Stocks and Commodities magazine and edited several books for Wiley publishing. Also, in 2008 he wrote Candlestick Charting For Dummies and is the author of Option Spread Trading: A Comprehensive Guide to Strategies and Tactics which was published in January 2011.

He is a double graduate of the University of Memphis with a BBA ('92) and an MS ('94) in Finance and also received a Master's Certificate in Financial Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2003.

In addition to his position with CBOE, Mr. Rhoads serves as an instructor for The Options Industry Council.

Jonathan Wilson

Jonathan Wilson, Manager of Client Development for Summit Energy Services

Jonathan Wilson is Manager of Client Development for Summit Energy Services, a consulting firm headquartered in Louisville, KY. Summit Energy provides energy management and sustainability services to organizations in a wide range of industries. Founded in 1991, Summit has experience leading companies worldwide to cost-effective and sustainable energy. Summit manages more than $20 billion in annual energy spend for more than 650 companies and thousands of facilities. Their expertise in the energy markets is regularly featured in the WSJ and on CNBC.

Mr. Wilson works out of Summit’s Houston office and focuses exclusively on commercial office properties. His current clients include some of the world’s largest real estate firms and the second tallest building in the state of Texas. He leverages Summit’s global commodity expertise and energy reporting tools to help his clients achieve reductions in energy consumption combined with strategic purchasing strategies to significantly reduce overall energy expense addressing the commodity risk embedded in their commercial real estate portfolios.

Prior to joining Summit Energy Mr. Wilson worked in asset management for a private equity real estate firm and as an analyst for a real estate investment trust. During his short career he has supported and worked on commercial real estate projects throughout the U.S. & Europe. He is an active member in numerous industry organizations including the Urban Land Institute and the U.S. Green Building Council.

Mr. Wilson graduated from Texas State University with a BBA in Finance, where he was President of both his fraternity and the University Student Foundation. He later earned a Master of Finance from Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business. He has previously been a guest speaker to students groups at Texas State, the University of Texas, UCLA and the University of Maryland.

Celeste Bottorff

L. Celeste Bottorff, Vice President of Living Well, Coca-Cola North America

Celeste Bottorff is responsible for building the strategic corporate reputation framework for Coca-Cola North America. In this capacity, Celeste’s work is instrumental in designing and communicating the Company’s vision for how it delivers on its promise to consumers all across the country that Coca-Cola can be counted to make a positive difference in their lives.

As Vice President of Living Well, Celeste seeks the counsel of the country’s leading health officials, policy makers and opinion shapers on topics ranging from obesity and physical activity to environmental issues like sustainable packaging, recycling and water conservation. Based on her learnings, Celeste collaborates with colleagues from various operational functions within CCNA to develop consumer and employee messaging and advertising that promotes Coca-Cola's commitment to our consumers, community and our planet.

Celeste began her marketing career as a marketing and technology Strategist at McKinsey & Co. in 1983 after earning her Master’s degree from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. She distinguished herself there by helping clients hone in on strategic imperatives and building game-changing business plans that resulted in successful achievement of business goals.

In addition to her Coca-Cola experience, Celeste served as Senior Vice President of AHL Services where she developed strategies resulting in the transformation of the company to a profitable $970 million public company. As Marketing Director at the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Celeste led marketing initiatives that won the paper “Marketer of the Year” honors from the Newspaper Association of America. Prior to joining the Journal-Constitution, Celeste was the Director of Global Planning for Holiday Inn Worldwide/Intercontinental Hotels. In this role, she developed growth strategies for North America, Asia, Latin America and Europe.

Celeste did not start out as a marketer. A graduate of Purdue University, Celeste earned her B.S in Physics and spent a few years working in operations at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and at General Electric. This depth of knowledge and appreciation for science, coupled with her intuitive sense for what moves consumers to choose one brand over another, makes Celeste uniquely qualified to lead Coca-Cola North America’s corporate reputation initiatives.

Celeste is the recipient of several important honors, among them, the 2008 Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans award from the Board of Directors Network, Atlanta Woman magazine’s 2007 Atlanta Power Women and Purdue University Physics Department’s 2007 Outstanding Alumni Award. In 2010, she was honored as a Distinguished Alumni from Purdue University’s College of Science, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Georgia. She is a member of the Board of Advisors for HireDynamics LLC, one of the country’s fastest-growing private firms. She also sits on the Purdue University College of Science Dean's Leadership Council and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Cystic Fibrosis Reaching Out Foundation. Celeste served on the Board of Directors at Caraustar Industries for over six years.

Celeste was born in Louisville, Kentucky. She currently resides in Decatur, Georgia.
