Texas State American Marketing Association Receives $1,000 Community Service Grant from American Marketing Association Foundation San Marcos, Texas, December 7, 2007- Texas State Collegiate Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) was one of fifteen collegiate chapters to receive a $1,000 community service grant from the American Marketing Association Foundation in support of United Way Capital Area. This is the third year in the row that Texas State has been a recipient of an AMA Foundation Grant. The AMAF, the philanthropic arm of the marketing profession and the AMA, is dedicated to expanding marketing education opportunities in fulfilling its mission to serve as a catalyst for the betterment of society through marketing. There are currently over 250 AMA student chapters in the United States. The American Marketing Association is one of the world’s largest organizations for marketers.
The Texas State AMA will be using the money from this community service grant to increase college students’ awareness of and involvement with United Way Capital Area programs. A survey will be developed and administered to learn about current college student awareness levels as well as to determine effective means to reach these students. This is an opportunity for all Texas State students to become more involved in their community. A team of Texas State AMA members will be working together to promote United Way Capital Area to potential participants. This will help to increase awareness of United Way and increase student participation. If you are interested and would like to help with this effort, please contact Bret Neu bn1048@txstate.edu or Vivian Plasencia vp1030@txstate.edu
