| In addition to winning the regional competition in their league for the eleventh straight year, Texas State also took home top honors by being named a top 20 finalist for two Individual Topic Competitions, which are the HSBC Financial Literacy Competition and the Market Economics Competition. Texas A&M University also qualified for the national competition in the same league. |
| SIFE is an international non-profit organization active on more than 1,400 university campuses in 48 countries. SIFE teams create economic opportunities in their communities by organizing outreach projects that focus on: market economics, success skills; entrepreneurship; personal financial responsibility, business ethics and team sustainability. During this academic year, the Texas State SIFE team organized over 35 projects based on these criteria. |
The captain of the presentation team, Brittany Fiedler, had this to say, “We were happy to present the results of our projects for the year and were overwhelmed with the judges’ responses.” Presentation team members include: Brittany Fiedler, Captain; Michael Huddleston; Rian Beaudoin; Lauren Peterson; William Payne; and Matt Batten. President Angela Bertero added, “We have worked on our projects since June, 2007 and
we are proud to see the results of our year long presentation process come to fruition.” |
| Texas State will represent the Dallas regional at the national competition to be held May 13-15th, 2008 in Chicago, Illinois. The competition has historically been held in Kansas City, Mo. because of its centralized location, but now will move around to different cities in the central portion of the country. |
