Michael Morrow of Ecological Design & Planning speaks to students on Sustainable Environmental Ethics

Michael Morrow of Ecological Design & Planning led the Business Honors Class in a lively conversation on Sustainable Environmental Ethics on November 25, 2008.  A brief history of sustainable principles was traced from transcendentalism, to the first Earth Day in 1970, to the creation of ecofeminism, to sustainability in the 1990s.  Mr. Morrow challenged the students to live for the “Good of All, Happiness of All” with a design for meta-intelligence and heart.  According to Morrow, a new intelligence and heart is needed that understands the complexity and the exponential web for sustainability to flourish. The challenge of minimizing one’s ecological footprint is central to the concept of producing better products with no toxicity.
Environmental restoration is one of Mr. Morrow’s many specialties as a licensed landscape architect.  He has been a sustainability proponent since the 1990s.  Mr. Morrow taught at Cal Poly—San Luis Obispo and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.  As a foremost leader in the field, Texas State celebrates Michael Morrow’s commitment to 21st century excellence throughout the world, on our campus and in the classroom.  .
